I would like to respectfully acknowledge that I reside on the traditional unceded territory of the Tk’emlups te Secwepemc within Secwepemc’ulucw. I recognize that this land was taken from those to whom it rightfully belongs, and that reparations have not been made adequately. I also recognize that teaching, learning, and thriving have been taking place on this land for time immemorial.
I would also like to acknowledge the history of my family on this land, that my immediate family have resided on the land of the Secwepemc for generations, while my husband and my children find their heritage in the Bella Bella area of BC, within the traditional territory of the Heiltsuk Nation to which they belong.
I am grateful for the land on which my family has grown, and the ways in which my family has grown while I have been living on this land. I connect to the land through the people that the land has brought into my life, for whom I am eternally grateful.
