About Me…

My name is Diara Hindle, and I am currently a BEd. student, set to graduate in 2024 and continue my journey. I am passionate about educating children, especially young children, and I look forward to continuing in this field.
I have worked many jobs, primarily focused on childcare and animal welfare, but few of them have been as fulfilling as teaching. Incorporating education into my childcare work was something I was incredibly proud of, and that both I and the children enjoyed. Being able to continue developing my knowledge and understanding of education and child development has been an incredibly fun opportunity.
My educational history began with a major in psychology, before I decided to dive right into education. I took courses over a longer than average timeframe, with covid putting a damper on my studies, as well as a few personal circumstances that slowed me down. But I am all the more proud to have reached my educational goals, and I am so excited to graduate next year.
I have lived in Kamloops my whole life, and received most of my early education at Rayleigh Elementary, Brock Middle, and then Norkam Senior Secondary. I did not get to experience the new curriculum during my education, as I had graduated before it was fully implemented. This change in perspective from how I was educated, to how I am expected to teach, has been a significant shift. I am grateful to the teachers who spent their time and energy to teach me and guide me to success, specifically my absolute favorite teacher, Mrs. Atkinson, who I had the pleasure of being in her class for grade 5, and then again for grade 8 Math.
I did not grow up in a family of educators, my mother is a pediatric nurse and my father works in the construction industry. I knew from a young age that I wanted to teach, but I explored a few other career paths before returning to the idea of education. I specifically focused on elementary education because young children bring me so much joy. While I’m sure I could also love highschool students, there is just something about the tiny humans that makes me happy.
As I explore my newest journey into parenting (as I write this I am 5 months pregnant with my first baby), I am so excited to bring what I have learned about teaching home to my own children, who I will be proud to raise with a strong educational foundation. I am also excited for the parenting experiences that will help to shape me as a teacher, and better inform my practice by building my personal experience.
Ultimately my journey through and towards education has been one of stress and joy, that I am excited to ‘complete’ in that this stage of formal education is complete, but I will never be finished learning. Especially in a classroom full of growing minds that have as much to teach me as I have to teach them.
